What's Up Moose?

The challenge this past week on the MFT forum for What's Up Wednesday was to make a box. I used the template that was provided (see post here) and one of the free MFT stamp sets that I recently won! Somehow, I knew that the 2 I received were the 2 that I would get! Or maybe it was just wishful thinking; either way, I was a happy camper with what I won!!

I stamped the moose twice and colored him in. I cut out one and popped him up and then decided I would do the same for the frame. I love the look but I'm not sure I would take the time to cut that frame out very often! I wanted a box that was bright and fun and non-traditional looking when it came to Christmas! I hope this fits the bill!! I'll put it aside until December and then fill with some treats for a friend!
I hope you had a great weekend! My friend and I had scheduled time to stamp on Saturday! I made a rustic pizza for lunch, got a little stamping done and then we went shopping!!! The deals were too good to pass up!! My LSS celebrated it's 2nd birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! - and we enjoyed some yummy cake and got some cute stuff. Then on to Michaels where paper was on sale and I kept finding a new sheet I *had* to have!! And then off to Joann's, where I swore I wouldn't buy anything --- until they DID HAVE a glitter stack on sale. I snagged the last one before my friend could grab it. I should probably give it to her as it was not a very sweet thing to do and I'm really trying to be sweet these days. Oh, it was such a gorgeous fall day! Then my dad watched the little man while we went to the MAZE with my mom and brothers!! Lots of fun and it was great traipsing through the mud! We lost half the crew at one point and while waiting for them to catch up (they never did) the boys snuck off .... and then I was standing there all by myself. As I set off to find the boys, my "little" brother (he's younger than me by 14 years but he's about 5 inches taller!) jumped out and scared me!! Too funny!! I think my mom was game to go through the Haunted Maze but didn't want to wait in the L-O-N-G line! I never knew my mom liked scary things as we weren't allowed to be around that growing up!! "For good reason" said my other "little" brother (who is 8 years younger, 8 inches taller
[do you know that I'm 5'11"?] and was a Marine!) Cracked me up when he said that!!! He loves to act tough - and he is tough, but he also has a heart of gold - both of my brothers do!
Anyway, enough rattling on by me! I'll see you back here soon and in the meantime, have a beautiful day!!

Shopping Flags

Conference was this week and I found these really cool notebooks at JoAnn's in their dollar section that were pink and black and said BLING on the front. Before I went to deliver them, I remembered that my friend Suzann had given me these really cool post-it flags for marking my catalog. So I ran out to WalMart and bought a whole bunch. Isn't it agonizing to get a catalog and want to mark it up, but you don't want to do that until you have others to give away?!? It is for me so I thought this would be the perfect way to flag all the pieces they fell in love with and keep their catalog pristine. I paperpieced one of the shopping bags and sentiment from a MFT set.

I'm sorry this photo is so rotten, I had to snap it late at night with the glare from the kitchen, but hopefully you get the idea. I wished I had taken a photo of the whole package with the notebook and the glittery pen they got. One of my girls just loved it and was so impressed and wants me to show her how to do stuff like that. Isn't that the coolest thing when someone who isn't a stamper, loves what you did and wants to know how to do it too? I know it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Make it a beautiful day!!

That Week

This week has been "that" week. I have just been in an icky funk all week long. I have been working on some things - a project, sorting some things in my craft room - did I tell ya'll that I decided to move some things around? - that's created havoc in there, let me tell you. And a whole lot of sitting in my chair, staring at my stamps.

I did get on to share my swap from the MFT swap over on SCS. I had my original photos on my EHD that is still dead so I had to take new photos, and I just haven't really been motivated to do that until this morning. All of the ATCs in this swap were phenomenal!! They are sitting here right by my computer in their little baggie. Every morning I start reading my email while D. eats his breakfast. Most mornings he finishes before I do so then he joins me here on the computer. And he always grabs this bag and wants to look at them. So they have brought us much joy in the few weeks that we've had them. He does get frustrated though because I won't let him "hold them, hold them". I don't want them to get bent - ya'll understand right?

I was a little worried about the umbrella being over the edges, but then decided if it's okay in a card, it should be okay in an ATC too! And if I had need of an umbrella in my life, I would definitely have a scarf tied around the handle. Oh - and what fun it would be to have polka dotted rain galoshes (is that what they are called?) But alas, rain is scarce around here - and when it does rain, it's usually pretty quick so I just wait it out. Or run quickly --- it's not like I'll get soaked!
I guess that's why I like this set so much - I can carry out my polka-dotted, fancy umbrella dreams through this girl.

Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back on Sunday with my last card as guest designer for the PagePlans sketch blog.

Circle of Friendship

The first challenge of VSN was to create a circle card. I had ordered some MFT sets weeks ago and decided that TONIGHT (Friday night) was the night I was going to use them. I am also going to Dallas in a few weeks for a jewelry team meeting and 2 of my gals are going with me early - we are hitting the malls so I wanted to send them a card before we go to let them know how excited I am to be getting away with them! The challenge only allows you 45 minutes to make your card - and I made 2! Now that they are done, I wish I had matted pop dotted the main image. I use to blow off pop dots - but boy, what a difference they make! I haven't decided yet if I will send these or remake them. Thanks for stopping by!
