Pink Chocolate Teacups

Have you ever seen those chocolate shoes? They are really very neat and I can't imagine actually eating them. But they would be a fun decor item!! As fun as they are, I think chocolate teacups would be even more FUN and NEAT!!!



Over the past few months, I've had the pleasure of getting to know Rebecca, one of the Twinklettes, better. She's a super sweetie and we have many things in common. Awhile back she used a Stampington stamp on a card - one that I own and is a favorite. I love teacups. Especially vintage ones. Not sure why because I'm not a hot tea drinker. Anyway, a few weeks ago I asked Rebecca if she would like to have a mini challenge between us to use that stamp. She agreed and added a few additional requirements.


Challenge:
* use Stampington teacup trio stamp (Cup Collection)
* use Chocolate Chip
* minimum of 3 embellishments - but more welcome - one of which needed to be ribbon

Here's what I came up with. My teacup image was stamped with Memento Cocoa ink and then watercolored with my waterbrush and ink pads: Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa, Regal Rose. I used those same colors and a few additional stamps to create a collage style background. I loved that Chocolate Chip wide satin ribbon SU came out with a few years ago. Sure wish they would bring that back. In lots of colors actually. I also used pearls and flowers to finish out this card. There are a lot more than I would normally put on as I tend to use fewer embellishments. What do you think: Over the Top? or Just Right? or Not Enough?

Flutter By Wednesday: Butterfly Memo Board

Good Wednesday morning girls!!! I hope you are having a wonderful week! It's been great around here! A little chilly still but wonderful! We came down the hallway the other day and saw 2 doves taking shelter from the wind in the window above our front door. That was pretty cool. We were headed out the door so I felt bad that we scared them away. I hope they found another quiet place to rest. Then this morning (which was really Tues. morning as I'm pre-posting this) we had ducks - yes ducks - on our front lawn. Hubby said one was hobbling around on a stump; he fed them lots of bread so hopefully they had full bellies before they flew off. This is my second post for the day - please be sure to scroll down and see my Cuttlebug Challenge card - I love how it turned it out!!

Since it's Wednesday I have another Flutter By Wednesday project to share with you. Several months ago, Maggie, the owner of the Cuttlebug Challenge blog asked several of us to create an altered project for the Ready, Set, Create ezine. (Click on the cover to purchase this issue. It's full of lots of other great and easy projects!) I was thrilled to be asked and set about making a simple project. (This is actually not the first project I started - that project had pictures the wrong size and has been shelved since then). But I have a few of these memo boards and decided to alter one of them and make it into something pretty AND functional.

Here's what I started with:

To begin, I removed the corner brackets and then the side pieces. They were hot glued together so I just gently used an exacto blade as needed. I also removed the piece separating the memo section from the cork section. You could leave the white board on there but I carefully removed it and used it as a template to create my topper.

Some pretty dictionary butterflies. It's hard to see in this photo, but they have been embossed using my cuttlebug folders and inked. Gems on their body and gems highlighting some of the paper design to add a bit of sparkle.

The journaling tag was stamped with a quote from Paper Makeup Stamps. This is the small size; I really like this quote and think I'll have to get the big size too! It is tucked under some layered flowers. The center is a really pretty aurora borealis button I picked up at WalMart. After gluing the section back down, I added some lace to act as a barrier from the corkboard section.

Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge 26: Easter & Vellum are a Perfect Pair

Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week! I always love the inspiration I get from the other gals on the cuttlebug team and I love seeing what all our readers create too! Plus it's also Flutter By day and Pink Papery day. It's a GOOD DAY!!!!

We were asked to create an Easter themed project and to incorporate vellum into our design as well. I remember the first time I embossed vellum in my cuttlebug was for a baby card for my sweet friend Suzann. I'll have to share it here sometime as it is one of my most favorite cards ever (ya'll *know* how much I love baby cards)!!!

There is just something so sweet, innocent, simple and yet stunning about vellum. My card features clear and pink vellum in 3 different spots.

The base is clear vellum embossed with the Textile embossing folder. I love the white look that you get. The vellum I used here is some I got ages ago. It's very lightweight and in some spots it seemed like the folder actually "cut" all the way through the vellum. You can't see it but I could feel it. I love the pressure that this little machine gives - esp. after a class I took this past weekend!! I wanted to keep my card fairly clean and simple - so I just faux-matted the focal layer. I used some chalk ink to add color to the edges and to stamp my sentiment (from 2RedBananas) It really shows up much better in real life.

Here is a detail shot of the top trimming. I scalloped some pretty green paper and then used another scallop punch on some clear vellum. I love how sweet and dainty it is. It is quickly becoming my favorite border punch! Then a row of pearls to finish it off.

And here are my pink vellum embossed bunnies. I actually punched them out of a scrap of vellum that had already been embossed. I couldn't resist adding a pearl for their little cottontails.

Okay, back to Twinkling Tuesday!! This week we were given the challenge: "In with the Old" to use a stamp we had never used before. I would like to say that was a difficult assignment. But, it wasn't: the hard part was deciding which stamp to use!! Can you relate?

I have had this image from Little Paper Shop printed off for a few weeks and decided that she was going to be the lucky stamp to receive some love today. This line of digi stamps are adorable in my opinion. I love their cute little faces. I saw that there are some new ones available now that I am sure will be coming home to my laptop soon!

Last week on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog we paired up with Sheetload to launch their April issue. I loved working with the sketch last week and decided to use it again today. I colored my image with Prismascolors and baby oil. The patterned paper was a bit of scrap left over from a Ten Second Studio class I took on Saturday.

Paper Flowers

It's still Thursday - barely I know, but I wanted to share this today and my list of 13 is below. I created this ATC for a "love flowers" swap. I wanted to be able to participate in the paper flower challenge at the PAMC blog as well. I did veer a bit from her tutorial as I used my SU Scallop Circle Punch and some scallop=y, flower=y Cuttlebug die to create this instead of cutting out my own circles. I used some old dictionary pages, some buttons and twine to create them.

Isn't that just magnificently fluffy?? I love it all fluffed out like that!! I just cut at all the little divets and layered and fluffed. I know they will flatten out some in mailing, but they should easily fluff out again should the recipient wish to do so. I will be making more of these I know it!

Be Inspired #25: Sheetload Shortcut Shoutout

Hm - say that three times fast!!! LOL
This week Alicia from Sheetload and Shortcuts is the sponsor over at the Cuttlebug Challenge blog. It's an intersite challenge as the Sheetload team is also revealing the new issue. We were given some of the acetate and frosted blanks to play with this week. I have to say, I thought that I had really good acetate sheets until I got these in the mail. They are a wonderful thickness and emboss beautifully!

I used the Textile folder to emboss the clear card base and eliminated a layer as I really wanted to see through the card. I used my ink pads and waterbrush to color my image before mounting to the Raspberry Tart paper. My sentiment was trimmed closely and added without matting to my card. Two hot pink gems finish it off.

Flutter By Wednesday: Butterfly Project

One of the reasons I love Wednesday is because it's time for a little Flutter By. Ann is the featured stamper this week so be sure to leave her some love. And we welcome a new gal to our team this week - the very talented, super sweet Southern Yankee Stamper, Nancy Bush. Our challenge this week in addition to using a butterfly was to use NO patterned paper. Danni did say that using embossing folders was okay --- so I'm hoping that heat embossing is okay too!

My page was inspired by the Butterfly Project I saw over at LollyChops. I was in charge of demoing heat embossing at the scrapbook club tonight. We made a card and then to practice the technique, each of us took some cardstock, a stamp and embossed using either Clear, White or Glitter embossing powder. Then we punched out butterflies and traded so that we all had a mix. One gal even ran hers through the AccuCut die so we had some big ones too!

Here's a close-up of each of the Flutter Bys. I took a harlequin stamp, a gate stamp (Stampington) and then several stamps with text and the heart from the Always set (SU!). I love how the designs show up int he butterfly - lots of interest and texture. My little guy loves butterflies so I can't wait to get a picture to place on this page. My mom found a really pretty butterfly last fall that she has preserved and I think she has some pics of him with that.

Twinkling Tuesday: Inspired by Traditions

Good morning girls!! Sorry I'm late in getting my Twinkling Tuesday card up today. This will be short and sweet as I have so many things to do. We have another Temporary Twinkie offering a challenge this week - Jameson is Rebecca's son and he offered us an inspiration challenge, complete with picture and story. Head over to the Twinkling Tuesday blog as I'm sure it is there. Or for sure on Rebecca's blog.


The picture was Minnie Mouse as a bride and Mickey Mouse as an explorer with a really cute story of what happened to Mickey's tuxedo. The white is in honor of the wedding dress and the kraft base is inspired by Mickey's look. Since it was a wedding theme I also thought of that old saying that all brides think about: Something Old...you get the idea. And since I have a full to-do list I needed a QUICK card - this took about 15 minutes total. Love it when that happens!
