Flutters & Flowers & Tips Galore

Hi again!! How is your Wednesday going? After I "wrote" my earlier post and scheduled it last night, my little man woke up and wanted to "rock the baby". He had a fever and a slight cough. We have been very lucky this winter that this is the first time he's been sick. I hope it doesn't last long!

The drawer where I've been throwing scraps has gotten out of control. While I waited for the sketch challenge for this week to be posted on SCS, I decided to clean it out and toss it all. Okay, breathe. It's all right. Really. You'll be happy to know that I only tossed the ittiest of pieces. I don't know how long it will last but this card is made entirely from my stash. I did have to cut into the Close to Cocoa as the scraps I had weren't quite big enough for the base mat. TIP: When I have to cut into a full sheet, I make sure to cut it first for a card base if I'm able. I put all those in a letter holder on my desk.

I found this beauty in my scrap drawer. Many months ago I was in charge of teaching the program at my local stamping club. I demoed the faux silk technique and then we spent about an hour working on samples. One of the gals brought this set and so I used it to create a sheet to use later. I think the circles were originally Encore Gold but they didn't look gold today - more Kiwi Kiss.
Since the whole point of Flutter By Wednesday is to use butterflies, I really wanted to make sure to have them show on the base layer. So I strategically cut it down. Didn't really matter though in the end. You can barely see them!

TIP: I also knew that I wanted to cut out 2 of the butterflies and use them on the card. But only one whole one was left. So I cut one from the base in a spot that I knew wouldn't show. I know some cardmakers cut out the entire centers to use as mats and such later. But I'm not normally one to take the time to measure that all out perfectly.

TIP: It might be hard to see in these photos (did I mention that my OTT-light broke Monday night) but I totally goofed on cutting and one of my swirly strips ended up too short - can you see it on the left one?? I really needed them to be that length too. And was too lazy to cut another strip. So I creatively cut again, knowing that some of it would be hidden.
Now you know my little secrets with this card! I hope it made you smile though! I will have my PPS card posted later today. I love the ease of digi images but my inkjet printer sometimes smears the inks so I'm going to go print some on the laser printer. As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
