Banana Split Sunday: Viva La Bride!

Hello! It's time for another Banana Split Sunday and we have a sketch challenge this week. We are also wrapping up our "Week of Peeks". All of the new releases will be available tomorrow, May 18th. There are some really great sets this month - very unique that can't be found elsewhere!

I really hope you take a moment to try this sketch out and link up your creation over at the 2RedBananas blog. One lucky participant will receive their choice of one of the newly released sets.

SCS hosts a Virtual Stamping Night this weekend and as soon as I saw one of the challenges, I knew I had the perfect image to go with it! Kristen challenged everyone to make a non-traditional wedding card focusing on using bright colors and thinking of the fun, kitchy (is that spelled right?) weddings that occur in Vegas.

I don't use bright colors very much although I do love bright colors. I went shopping in my stash and found some really fun paper. My flamingo bride (Hello Beautiful set) was stamped with StazOn on watercolor paper and then colored. Her dress has been paper pieced. I did move my panel as I find it very hard to have an image gazing off the edge of the card. Even though it's very easy to see a bride in this image but I think it could easily be used for a "girls night out" theme - just make the veil hair - or a generic "girly" card too! The sentiment is from the Sweetie set also being released on Monday and was stamped with Memento ink. I added brads in all the corners because - well, frankly, because I could! It is a Vegas wedding card after all! And Vegas is all glitz to me!!

I used my clear glitter pen to add some details like beading and sequins to her dress and some Opal Shimmerz on her veil! Check out her eyeshadow and sparkly eyelashes too!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a terrific weekend! Be sure to visit the rest of the Bananas to see their interpretation of the sketch! You have until next Saturday to link your sketch card up over at the 2RedBananas blog! Good luck with the giveaway!

Sweet Song

Here is another card I created for the latest VSN. The challenge was to watercolor and this is a great stamp to use for that medium. I was stamping at my table and had all my markers with me but not my stamp pads and I was too lazy or too "in the groove" - yea that's it, in the groove, to go get my pads. So I just swiped my markers on a stamp case and colored away. I'm really happy with how this card turned out!
We are headed to OK to see my in-laws for the weekend in the morning. Of course, I have tons that I need to be doing for that, but I've been working and now I'm blurfing and typing this post. Ah well - it's nice to take a break, isn't it? I'm looking forward to good food, good visits with my in-laws (who I am lucky to have - they are wonderful and I adore them), good shopping and great swimming in their pool. I hope little one is as happy to be in the water this summer as he was last summer. We'll see. I hope that you enjoy your weekend too - make it a beautiful one!!

WOW!

I knew that I hadn't posted in a long time; I've been in a funk and haven't really stamped a whole lot lately - but I didn't realize it had been A MONTH!

My dear friend Bridget and I were able to get together on Saturday and spend many hours stamping together. We haven't done that in AGES!! And Bridget is a friend that I met through stamping years and years ago. It was such a great day - the best day I've had ALL MONTH!! I'm tempted to share everything all at once, but I think I'll space it out!! This card was SO SIMPLE!! Seriously, I think it took about 3 minutes to make! I had looked at the VSN challenges from Friday night and the first one was a colored animal - think Eric Carle. I had my Always set out because it's my favorite!! And I pulled out this scrap of red ribbon and knew immediately that I wanted to make a SIMPLE but BOLD card. Even though there is not much to this card, it is one of my most favorite things I've ever created.
Stamp: Always, Stampin Up!
Ink: Real Red, Stampin Up!
Ribbon: unknown, satin

WARNING!!

Stamping can be Hazardous to your Health!
This was the last challenge I was going to work on Friday night. As I was bent over a drawer looking through stamps, I felt my back go -eeecckkk! I don't even think I really moved, but something moved in my back. It was so bad I didn't think I was going to be able to stand up. I yelled for my hubby who came in, sighing and saying "where's the spider? when are you going to learn to kill them on your own?" Yea! Do you feel the love??? After he realized I was hurting I don't think he felt any more sorry for me! But he did kindly help me to the bed. After a very full day on Saturday, I was able to come back to the challenges after I got the baby to bed. I picked up here again. Pretty basic card. I had wanted to add stickles to my stars and some of the fireworks but I still couldn't find them. Masking is such a great technique and fairly easy to incorporate on a simple design like this. One of my stamping goals is to start thinking out my projects a bit more so that I can create really elaborate scenes with masking.
See the chat thread for this challenge HERE and view the other creations!!

I have other cards to post but I think I'm going to go find my stickles and restore some more order to my stamp space!

Shoes? Chocolate?

Both please!! Second challenge for VSN was to create something inspired by these pink and brown shoes made out of chocolate. Yummy!
I used the Sketch Challenge 159 for this card and a cute Maribou shoe I picked up a few months back in Norman, OK.
You can check out all the other creations (and see the inspiration) HERE on SCS.

Circle of Friendship

The first challenge of VSN was to create a circle card. I had ordered some MFT sets weeks ago and decided that TONIGHT (Friday night) was the night I was going to use them. I am also going to Dallas in a few weeks for a jewelry team meeting and 2 of my gals are going with me early - we are hitting the malls so I wanted to send them a card before we go to let them know how excited I am to be getting away with them! The challenge only allows you 45 minutes to make your card - and I made 2! Now that they are done, I wish I had matted pop dotted the main image. I use to blow off pop dots - but boy, what a difference they make! I haven't decided yet if I will send these or remake them. Thanks for stopping by!

Virtual Stamp Night

This is the first time I am participating in VSN over at SCS. I got started after I got the baby down and have completed 2 cards (technically 4 since I made each card twice) so far. It's a good thing they have breaks built in - I'm dashing in to refill my Dr Pepper and thought I'd make a quick post. I am waiting until tomorrow to take pictures becuase I seem to get poor lighting in the evening. See ya'll tomorrow!
