Trick or Treat Trio

Happy Halloween girls! It's been busy around here getting ready for this big day. DH introduced my little man to the 1960s Batman show a few months ago, resulting in an infatuation with Batman and Robin. He loves them both so much that he'll put on a blue Batman glove and a green Robin glove and be "Batman & Robin" at the same time. It worries hubby some but I just figure it's a great demonstration of problem solving! He's just like his momma --- can't pick just one!!

I have a few Halloween cards to share with you today. I created these back in February for a magazine call and they weren't selected. I decided to just hold on and post them at the actual holiday!!

This one was my favorite that I did. My sweet friend Suzanne lent me her folder. I embossed it, then used a brayer and a glue pad to apply adhesive to the raised areas. Sprinkled it with glitter. Then spent a crazy amount of time with a small brush getting excess glitter off! LOL!! The sentiment was computer generated and I also embossed the heart.

This is a little treat holder that I made. I inked the raised area on the folder using a craft white pad and then embossed it. I added googlie eyes to represent a big icky spider just lurking in that web, waiting for his next meal. Being a Texas girl, I have seen my fair share of spiders with eyes that must have been that big!

Or at least really close!! *wink*

I wonder if spiders like chocolate?

This is the last one I created. I embossed the base and then brushed it with my craft ink pad to highlight the dots. LOVE that Swiss Dots folder. The strip was trimmed from an embossed sheet, inked and then some googlie eyes added to the boo at the bottom.

I hope you have a great time tonight! Our pumpkin is carved, our candy bought and we will take our little guy out early and hopefully be back in time to greet trick-or-treaters at our house. We don't get very many which is kinda sad!

Cuttlebug Be Inspired 55: An MFT Dare (flutters)!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's the best day of the week on my blog!!
I have a TRIPLE challenge card for you today!
1. It's Cuttlebug Be Inspired #55 - our sponsor this week is the fabulous My Favorite Things. The main image is from one of the new sets she recently released. A fall card was requested - and so I used lots of brown tones --- I think it would be lovely to live somewhere on the beach that stays beautiful in the fall and would allow for walks along the shore even in October!
2. It's Whimsical Wednesdays - The Diedrich Dare - with another fabulous sketch this week by sweet Madelynn.

3. It's Flutter By Wednesday and it's another "open" week - If you look closely you'll see the sweet little butterflies on my patterned paper.

I embossed the paper using the sheet music embossing folder and then added some ink to highlight that. I also distressed the edges - I've been in a real shabby/vintage mood lately!
The image was stamped on some watercolor paper and then colored in completely with Copics. I've had some brown colors for a long time and recently took a copic coloring class as my local scrapbook store is now stocking them. You can't really see any blending --- I only blended her pants anyway --- but then I added ink on top of the image to distress it so it matched my paper better!

Please take a moment to:
1. Visit the Cuttlebug Challenge blog and see the other creations there --- scroll down enough to see a glimpse at the NEW CHRISTMAS embossing folders! They are being released on Nov 2nd on HSN! VERY LIMITED QUANTITIES so if you want them - order early! I'm just sayin'!!!!

2. Visit the Flutter By girls** to see their creations using butterflies, fairies or even an angel (Danni said angels get to flutter with us during the holidays!) We want to see your creations too so be sure to link them on her blog! **Lelia just celebrated a birthday so be sure to wish her Happy Birthday, K?

3. Tour the Daredevils** too to see how they interpreted the sketch this week. Yesterday I posted a little peek inside my head and Jessica DARED the rest of the team to share with you too - I can't wait to get to know them better!
**Debbie isn't able to play with us this week - we are missing her and sending her good wishes though!

The Diedrach Dare: Inspiration

Heather - I hope you have your brown-free glasses nearby - I've got lots of it today!

Jack issued the challenge this week - a treasure/pirate map - you can see it on the blog HERE

I used to have a "perfect" stamp for this challenge - a map with ships and all. Couldn't find it. And this card is actually nothing like I set out to make. When I went into my room I had every intention of using a felt X from my stash and making a CAS card ---- but then I thought of collage somewhere between the hallway and my chair!!!! I don't think this is very "clean" but it sure was "simple" to make!!

Be sure to visit the rest of the Daredevils - all are playing except Darla this week - you can find them easiest by visiting the challenge blog HERE! We have a brand new Daredevil playing with us this week - Randi Wall. EEeeekkkK! I'm so excited - she's terribly talented and sooo nice - so I'm thrilled to get to be on a team with her and get to know her better! Taylor has stepped down - I hope she'll be back soon though! And Heather - I'm sorry for all the brown on my blog today!

My Flutter By post is below!
I don't have a Cuttlebug Challenge card for you today. Apparently my package of the supplies we were to us has gone AWIT (absent while in transit)! But swing by there and see all the inspiration the rest of the team has for you!

Flutter By Wednesday: Simple Hi

Good morning everyone! Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week! It's a busy day here on my blog - I hope you've got a few moments!

The month of October is "open" for Flutter By challenges - create whatever you want using a butterfly or a fairy. Danni even said that through December - Angels are "fluttering" too! How exciting!

I dreamed up this card in my sleep --- inspired very much by Harriet's card from last week. The base is not quite normal size - it was just a scrap I had on my desk. The image panel was another scrap. I cut it down and then punched a butterfly from the middle. Popped it off some pretty patterned paper and added some letter stickers.

What do you think? I'm really happy with how it came out!

Be sure to link up your Flutter By creation over on Danni's blog! And then go see what the rest of the team came up with! The links didn't copy over - they are in my sidebar or on Danni's blog - I've got to get out the door so no time to make blogger work for me this morning!! Have a terrific day!

2RedBananas: u r Sweet!!

Good Sunday morning!! I'm so happy to have a card to share for this week's 2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday challenge! It's been a few weeks since I was able to play along. This week it's a sketch challenge!

I used the ice cream cone from the June Journaling Spot, stamping it on some lime green paper from a DCWV "sweets" stack. Ice Cream is one of my favorite things --- and sherbet is a wonderful refreshing treat! Even though fall is in full swing - I could always go for some ice cream!!

At a recent women's treat I donated a set of custom made cards for a door prize. The lady that won requested cards with layers but that could be mailed in a regular envelope. So I kept this pretty flat for her --- although I couldn't resist adding a few gem "sprinkles"....

I hope you'll have a chance to play along - be sure to leave a link over at the 2RedBananas blog! And see what the rest of the bunch has come up with for this sketch!!

Crumpled Background

Hello girls! I have a card today for both the FlutterBy Challenge and The Diedrich Dare. Madelynn gave a great sketch and butterflies usually make any card terrific.

But I think this might be the worst card I've ever made. I think it's that pink cardstock. It's from a pack I picked up on sale at a store. HORRIBLE!!!! UGH!!!

At stamp club last night, one of the girls showed how to make several different backgrounds. This was one of them and I wanted to utilize it right away. You just crumple, smear ink, repeat.

Take a moment and swing by to see the rest of the Daredevil crew! Here's a list of who is playing this week:
And you can't forget the FlutterBy girls either!!!

Onto my project for today --- besides the wonderful fall weather, the thing I love most about fall is the changing trees. It's so much fun to watch them slowly change to red, orange, gold and brown throughout the fall months. I decided to use one of the Shaped Card Templates available at Paper Popsicles (what a bargain to pick some up on sale today! I think I will be completing my collection!) and create a tree inspired by the season!

Supplies:

bird die cut, Quickutz

inks

cardstock

cuttlebug & embossing folders (Moroccan & Swiss Dots

dimensionals

scissors

1. I started with a base and my template. Just traced the shape onto my cardstock and trimmed it out.

2. Using some leftover scraps, I cut the trunk and adhered it down. The leaves were embossed using the Moroccan embossing folder before being adhered. The bird was diecut and embossed as well.

3. I inked the edges first with Elegant Eggplant and then with Chocolate Chip.

4. Use dimensional to pop bird up off the tree.

I guess you want your other treat too? The treat on my blog is

SOME WICKED

Now that you have been scared into the season, don’t forget to leave a comment, then head over to Valerie's blog next!
