When I first started reading this book, it struck me as being very "Downton Abbey"; so much so that it lacked the magic of the series. I wasn't even sure that I would finish it. Then came Chapter 3 and I was compelled to keep reading. Bits of the story seemed very rushed which lead me to wonder if this is a self-contained story or if it is intended to be part of a serial.
