Bout of Books 10.0 Challenge: 'This' Made Me Think of 'That'

My Overstuffed Shelves is offering the challenge for today at Bout of Books 10.0. Here are the challenge instructions, taken directly from her blog:
Just think about the book you are reading now, or one you've read before, and tell me something you think goes with it and why.

The something can be another book, a movie, a song, a ballet, a drink, a special food or meal...no need to get Proustian about it, but if madelines are involved, it's okay.

One of the books I am currently reading is The Ninja Librarians: The Accidental Keyhand by Jennifer Swann Downey. I recently read this and reviewed it and am now reading it aloud to my son. He is enjoying it and I love reading and sharing a great book with him.

Growing up, one of my favorite books was From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg. These books are very similar in that:
     * the protagonists are a brother and sister
     * the story takes place in an ultra-cool setting: a time-traveling/time-stopping library and the Metropolitan         Museum of Art
     * both books speak to the sense of adventure and the ability to do something big/important/wonderful               without the help of (or little help from) adults.

Both of these books make great chapter books and/or read-alouds for both girls and boys! I hope you'll check them out!

Two middle grade books I read recently that reminded me of The Mixed Up Files (*best book ever maybe) are When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead and Under the Egg by Laura Marx Fitzgerald. Thanks for joining the challenge!
